Teacher Confronted On YouTube Arrested On Sexual Abuse Charges

Updated – Feb. 4, 7:10 p.m. ET:

On Monday, former educator Andrea Cardosa was arrested and charged with 16 counts of abuse, including five counts of aggravated sexual assault on a child, in Riverside County, Calif.

Cardosa, 40, was confronted about her past by Jamie Carrillo, 28, in a YouTube video posted on Jan. 17. (The original video, which received more than 1.2 million views, appears to have been taken down. A re-uploaded version is available here.)

“I was only 12 years old when I met you,” Carrillo tells Cardosa in the video. “You realize you brainwashed me and you manipulated me? And that what you did was wrong?”

“Yes,” Cardosa responds. “And I regret it.”

A photo of Andrea Michelle Cardosa released by the Riverside Police Dept. AP Photo/Riverside Police Dept.

On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that Cardosa has already confessed to police to having a sexual relationship with Carrillo when Carrillo was a teenager.

“During the interview, Cardosa admitted to having sexual relationship with Jane Doe #1,” Riverside police detective Roberta Hopewell wrote in the papers filed in Riverside County Superior Court seeking Cardosa's arrest.

Carrillo later said Cardosa was her basketball coach in middle school, and that the abuse began when she 12 and lasted until she was 20.

A second alleged victim came forward to CBS Los Angeles on Jan. 22, saying “our stories are exactly, extremely, extremely alike.”

According to the district attorney's office, Cardosa's 16 charges stem from interactions she had with just the two women. Fifteen charges pertain to Carrillo, while one pertains to the second anonymous victim.

Cardosa could serve life in prison if found guilty of the five aggravated sexual assault charges.

Prior to her arrest, the district attorney had issued a $5 million arrest warrant for Cardosa, who resigned as assistant principal of Alhambra High School shortly after the video began going viral.

Watch Another Glenn Beck Theory Implode Before Your Very Eyes

Last night, terror expert Steve Emerson told Fox News host Sean Hannity that Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was a “person of interest” in connection to the Boston Marathon bombings, would be deported on Tuesday.

This morning, Glenn Beck's news network TheBlaze got on the case - aggressively.

Citing sources, Beck reported on his radio show Thursday morning that Ali Alharbi was connected to an important Saudi family and was being deported for “security and related grounds.”

Beck, dismayed by the lack of mainstream media pickup of their story, urged listeners to spread it on social media while they kept after government officials for more information.

Then, at around 10:45 a.m., Cheatwood announced on the air that one of his reporters had told him that the government was now considering not deporting Ali Alharbi. Beck declared victory:

“Hopefull, we've just shut the engines down on a jet. That didn't happen after 9-11. We've learned since 9-11. The government, apparently, hasn't.”

Unfortunately for Beck and The Blaze, to story was inaccurate. First, a senior law enforcement official told BuzzFeed that the rumor was false.

“We do have a Saudi in ICE custody…He is not related in any way to the investigation into the bombing. He's not in any way related to this investigation.”

As of 3:53 p.m. the rumor was still The Blaze's top story, but it had a sidebar headline that read, ICE OFFICIAL RESPONDS TO BLAZE REPORT: 'CATEGORICALLY FALSE'

The Hill then confirmed with administration officials that the rumor was false, as did CNN's Jake Tapper.

Just speculation, but this GIF probably represents most of TheBlaze employees right now:

What To Watch On Netflix Now: Vampires!

If you're in the mood for a campy horror hoot with a bunch of old pros at the tops of their games: The Comedy of Terrors (1963, Jacques Tourneur)

Check this cast list: Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, and Basil Rathbone. A lot of genre heavy-hitters show up for Jacques Tourneur's ghoulishly cheerful black joke The Comedy of Terrors. So there's something irresistibly cheeky about a film with this kind of firepower giving a starring credit to a cat.

Price takes the lead as Waldo Trumbull, a delightfully snide undertaker with a fondness for the drink and a poisonous contempt for everything else. Lorre is Felix Gillie, his long-suffering bumbler of an assistant, well-meaning yet terminally inept, and an amusingly addled Karloff plays Trumbull's father-in-law, an ancient man whose faculties are long gone yet his body refuses to shut down. The ensemble, rounded out by Joyce Jameson as Trumbull's wife, a ditzy would-be opera singer who bears the brunt of her husband's scorn, plays terrifically off each other - the majority of the early laughs come from watching these disparate personalities clash and bang together at odd angles, whether it's Price's exasperated declaration of, “I'm going out to drink myself into a state of stupefaction,” Lorre's meek pride in a hand-built coffin that crumbles at the merest touch or Karloff's yammering about the burial rituals of the ancient Egyptians (“…yank their brains out with a hook!”). A story eventually emerges, and in doing so it provides a framework for more slap-happy goings-on. (Rathbone's dying burlesque on “Macbeth” is killer stuff - a gag drawn out past all logic, past of the point of losing the joke and around to where it becomes funny again simply by duration.) The Comedy of Terrors is a macabre lark - a bit weightless, but grand fun anyway, if only to watch a bunch of big names compete over who can slice the most ham.

If you're in the mood for vampires, panthers and malevolent dwarves: Vampire Circus (1972, Robert Young)

“One lust feeds the other…” Sex and death are often intertwined in the horror genre, rarely more effectively than in vampire movies. And if it's a strong shot of bloody perversity for which you're hankering, you could do a lot worse than Vampire Circus. This Hammer production leaps out of the gate with a vampire chowing down on an adorable little blonde girl, then sexing up the wife of one of the local villagers. The village doesn't take kindly to this and storms the castle, managing to slay the vamp after a bloody battle. With his dying breath, the vampire lays a curse on the town; cut to fifteen years later, and the plague is romping through the area, leaving the little village quarantined. It's about this time that a mysterious circus comes to town, featuring animals and acrobats and magic mirrors and all manner of unusual sights.

It's no secret what the circus is (hint: look at the title), and to the film's credit it's working more with the Hitchcockian definition of suspense rather than surprise - we're sitting waiting for the vampiric attacks to begin with bated breath. In the interim, the notion of the vampire as decadent, worldly sex fiend is contrasted against the good, upstanding villagers; it's an old, familiar formulation, but it's still fascinating to see how far Vampire Circus runs with it - past mere seduction into darker, stickier areas like incest and bestiality. (The tiger dance seen during the circus's first performance is one of the most sexually fucked up scenes of the '70s.) There's also the clear correlation of the swath of death cut through the town by the vampires and the similar path run by the plague. Stir in the gloomy atmosphere and the doom-laden score and the overall effect is one of a society rotting away from inside and fighting to keep the sickness at bay. All of which is to say that Vampire Circus takes its careful time setting up its conflicts and then lets the dominoes fall as they should in a creepy-cool explosion of vamp action. Wild cats eat people, evil clown-faced dwarves cackle and a good number of bodices are ripped. What's not to enjoy?

If you're in the mood for total batshit insanity, plus boobs: Nude for Satan (1974, Luigi Batzella)

Like I need to write anything after that title.

Nude for Satan is a singularly daffy triumph of mood over logic. Luigi Batzella's bizarre object du cinema stars Rita Calderoni alongside a dude who looks like a Eurotrash Kirk Douglas and a big-haired creepy dude in a cape who, one presumes, is the Satan of the title. (At the very least, his ability to make Rita's clothes vanish by staring really hard is demonstrably demonic.) There's a car accident which leads the two protagonists to search for help inside a creepy mansion, where they meet their doubles and get unstuck in time and generally wander around wondering what the hell is going on - Eurotrash Kirk Douglas literally says at one point, “What is happening? I don't understand! And yet…”

And yet! Batzella isn't making a whole lot of sense, but then he's not trying to. Nude for Satan isn't exactly good in the traditional sense, but it has a mesmerizing sort of power about it - it's the atmospheric Eurohorror, with its nightmare logic and inexplicable flights of fancy, reduced to its barest elements and then reduced further until all that remains is colors, flames, wind, smoke and bare flesh, a series of images ties together by the faintest hint of a story. It's a film where the best course of action is to sit back and let yourself drift along with it, collecting sights and sounds. Sensation is the watchword here, and Nude for Satan has some serious ones for your senses.

The Netflix streaming library is vast and daunting and mostly filled with crap. Steve Carlson is the Netflix video clerk, and every week he hand-delivers three awesome movies you've never heard of before. He's been writing about movies in one form or another on the Internet since 2002 and co-hosts the Bad Idea Podcast. Someone once called him the lonely Magellan of exploitation cinema. He thinks that's the best compliment he's ever received.

Advertisers stand by Nickelodeon

http://twitter.com/#!/RealityTVBites_/status/243095952561418241

In the wake of Jason Biggs' misogynistic comments about Ann Romney and Janna Ryan, The Colorado Rockies announced yesterday that it has canceled “Nickelodeon Day.”  In response, thousands of Twitter users posted comments supporting The Rockies.

Major Nickelodeon advertisers, by strong contrast, have not taken any action to distance themselves from either Nickelodeon or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This morning, Twitchy contacted Nickelodeon advertisers General Mills, Kellogg's, Sears, and Kraft Foods. All were familiar with the controversy.

None except Sears has condemned Jason Biggs' comments. None has decided to pull ads from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

A Kellogg's rep noted that Nickelodeon has deleted all the links it posted to Biggs' sex-obsessed Twitter page.

Sears Holdings Co. and its subsidiary, Kmart, disavowed Biggs' comments earlier this week, but they are not pulling ads.

“I have checked and see that Sears has not pulled its ads from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” said a customer service rep.

By contrast, Sears refuses to run ads on the Rush Limbaugh show.  Sam's Club, which is owned by Nickelodeon advertiser Walmart, also has said it will not run ads on Limbaugh's show.

Some Twitter users say they will not buy products made by companies that sponsor Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Our campaign to remove @jasonbiggs from @TMNTMaster or boycott all advertisers of @NickelodeonTV @viacom is to escalate! ..

Teamsters, Daily Kos, MSNBC push back against 'phony' video of union assault

http://twitter.com/#!/FairTaxNancy/status/278638894994563074

That video of union thugs in Michigan tearing down the Americans for Prosperity tent and punching Fox News contributor Steven Crowder repeatedly? You didn't see that. OK, everyone's seen it by now, so what are union supporters supposed to do? Claim the whole thing was a setup, obviously.

For their part, the Teamsters tweeted their concerns of “right-wing provocateurs” ruining their peaceful protest.

Peaceful protests follow #RTW4Less passage in #MI; #Koch lackeys try to smear #unions; automakers concerned teamsternation.blogspot.com/2012/12/peacef… #savemi

- Teamsters (@Teamsters) December 11, 2012

Right-wing provocateurs are at it again with phony 'damaged tent' outrage emptywheel.net/2012/12/11/bre… #savemi

- Teamsters (@Teamsters) December 11, 2012

@teamsters have you seen THIS video?? youtube.com/watch?v=u_F3oe…

- Patriotic Resistance (@AmericanHawkTPJ) December 11, 2012

Of course they've seen the “heavily edited” video. The Teamsters, however, have linked to a blog post explaining the whole incident. Witnesses on the ground confirm that the AFP people loosened the ropes on their own tent. And those union people rushing the tent? They were pushing and shoving to help people out from under it. They even have a witness! Here's Tom Duckworth.

And Crowder? He was, um, punching himself. No? Well, then he was provoking the peaceful protesters to the point where they had to start swinging fists. Daily Kos links to the same video.

Lol idiots at @dailykos denying any violence happened and saying AFP took its own tent down! At least attempt to sound reasonable #pendejos!

- El SOOPer!! (@SooperMexican) December 11, 2012

As the Daily Kos concludes, “Clearly AFP came to this rally to incite an altercation that could be shown on endless loop on Fox to show that union members are, indeed, 'union thugs'. Not surprisingly, Fox News cameramen where [sic] right there on the spot to capture it all on film.” How to counter AFP's fake video? Duckworth also spoke to the official blogger for the Ed Schultz show so MSNBC could pass along the truth.

Anyone in Lansing see up close what happened to the Americans for Prosperity tent? Lots of conflicting reports. #righttowork

- Ned Resnikoff (@resnikoff) December 11, 2012

Conflicting reports! Which are you going to believe? The obviously fake and heavily edited video shot on the scene? Or this eyewitness who sat down with ProgressMichigan?

Are you people HIGH? Seriously, @msnbc. Watch the videos. MI protest, charges of violence, dirty tricks on.msnbc.com/ZcfLVJ via @edshow

- Cheryl S Fontenot (@StoreyLine) December 11, 2012

@edshow care to comment on the left hook thrown by those Caring union members?

- paulpeterson (@paulypeterson) December 11, 2012

@edshow what about the video of unionists screaming, swearing and punching Crowder in the face? Guess that wouldn't fit your narrative.

- David Rutz (@DavidRutz) December 11, 2012

Will Chris Matthews step in and do the job his MSNBC cohort won't do? Of course not. Matthews is most concerned with who paid for the AFP tent. Oh, and racism.

Can't wait to hear Chris Matthews explain how “Ow! My face!” is racist code language.

- John Hayward (@Doc_0) December 11, 2012

Hi,@hardball_chris , why haven't you shown this video? bit.ly/QUbYZB Who paid them to do that?

- Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) December 12, 2012

@hardball_chris Well, you going to report fairly on what the union thugs did today? Any dog whistles there? Lot of us waiting. #HannityLive

- Brad Mackey (@MackeyBrad) December 12, 2012

I don't like who @hardball_chris works for and it's a private organization. Using his logic I'm allowed to assault him.

- James Yaklin (@ajs_dad) December 12, 2012

It seems those clever right-wing provocateurs had the foresight to catch the assault from multiple angles. Here's video from inside the AFP tent as it was being torn down. Those Americans for Prosperity really went out of their way to make the union protesters look bad.

'Credible political spokesperson' Katy Perry campaigns in 'Forward' dress

http://twitter.com/#!/Schneider_CM/status/264814546487746561

We'll call this a shock poll, but only because we're shocked that anyone bothered to ask. According to the Hollywood Reporter, voters under 35 were eight times more likely than older voters to consider Katy Perry “more credible as a political spokesperson.” Note: That poll was taken Oct. 29, after Perry had appeared in her latex ballot dress but before today's appearance with Barack Obama at a Milwaukee rally wearing this.

- Matt McDermott (@mattmfm) November 3, 2012

We're not sure if the dress was made before the Obama campaign decided to kick things up a notch by adding an exclamation point to its slogan, if the dressmaker simply ran out of fabric, or if, like the rest of us, Perry just isn't that excited about four more years.
